This month’s theme, "OUT," invites you to step beyond boundaries, push limits, and embrace the unexpected. Whether you’re telling a story or simply there to listen, expect a night of funny, raw, and captivating storytelling in the intimate, creative atmosphere of BABS’LAB.

This month, we’re featuring live music from 1Black Friend 🔥, bringing even more energy to the night!

1blackfrend is the brainchild of Detroit native Randi Johnson, who has been a songwriter since the mid-2000s. Johnson is joined by Grant Nielsen and Chris Poland, who are both lifelong performers and writers. Together, the trio forms a grunge-inspired alternative group whose songs become earworms that you'll find yourself humming for days.

That’s why we love this month’s theme—OUT invites a wide range of stories, each one unique.

But don’t forget: only 10 storytellers will be selected, so arrive early to get your name on the list!

HOW A STORY SLAM WORKS

• Storytellers have 5 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME.
• 10 people's names are picked from the hat.
• At the end of the evening the audience votes for their favorite storyteller.
• The winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate!

STORY SLAM RULES

•Story must connect to the Theme.
•No notes.
•No props.
•Please no ranting,no preaching, no politicizing.
