We are celebrating the SIXTH anniversary of our Successful Kickstarter campaign in August of 2017 that up-graded our performance space and elevated your experience. On a more personal note it’s also the 6th anniversary of Babs’ open heart surgery on August 11, 2017. She is grateful every day and feels blessed to have the ability to connect to community through story.

ABOUT STORY SLAM
Slams offer an opportunity for people to share a true story, hone the craft of oral storytelling, and connect with community. Storytellers have 5 to 7 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME chosen for the event without the use of notes. First-timers WELCOME!!!
Audience members get to vote for their fave storyteller! The winner of the popular vote receives a $50.00 Gift Certificate to WOLF & CUB, our favorite downtown Jax retail shop.

WHAT'S A STORY SLAM?

A story slam is a live storytelling friendly competition similar to poetry slams. Storytellers have 5 to 7 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME chosen for the event without the use of notes.

HOW IT WORKS

• Every story slam event has a THEME.

• Audience members can prepare a story and enter their name in a hat or decide to sit back and listen.

• 8 - 10 people's names are picked from the hat.

• At the end of the evening the audience votes for their favorite storyteller.

• The winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate!

STORY SLAM RULES

•Story must connect to the Theme.

•No notes.

•No props.

•Please no ranting, no preaching, no politicizing.

*Story must be within the time limit of 8 to 10 minutes.
