Now in its 5th year, story slams offer an opportunity for people to share a true story, and hone the craft of yarn spinning.

At a BABS’LAB Story Slam, the stage is not just a platform; it's an open invitation. Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or a first-time participant, the December 8th canvas is open for you.

WHAT'S A STORY SLAM?
A story slam is a live storytelling friendly competition similar to poetry slams. Storytellers have 5 to 7 minutes each to tell a TRUE personal story based on a THEME chosen for the event without the use of notes. 

HOW IT WORKS
• Every story slam event has a HOST and a THEME.
• Audience members can prepare a story and enter their name in a hat or decide to sit back and listen. 
• Up to 10 people's names are picked from the hat. 
• Audience votes for their favorite storyteller. 
• The winner receives a $25.00 gift certificate. 

STORY SLAM RULES
• Five minute stories are required with a 2 minute grace period.
•Tell us a story that has a conflict with a resolution or lesson. Stakes are high. 
• No ranting, or sermonizing.
• No notes. You won’t need them. It’s your story. Speak from your heart and Invest in what you say.
• No props. Just you.
