Play Building Workshop

LEVEL UP your storytelling skills in this dynamic 9-week workshop where storytelling meets art, embellished by music, poetry, and movement! Designed for Level II students from Improv to the Rescue, this course offers a unique opportunity to apply improvisation techniques and narrative skills to create and perform a collaborative play.

In partnership with the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, renowned educator and theater professional Barbara Colaciello will guide participants through an immersive process of field study, research, improvisation and discussion.

PROCESS:

Step into a one-of-a-kind creative journey like no other in Jacksonville! This program merges the art of improvisation with the beauty of fine art, offering students a chance to craft something truly unique and inspiring.

1. Unleash Creativity Through Improv:
   Kick off the adventure by diving into dynamic improvisation games designed to spark imagination and develop original material.

2. Engage with Masterpieces at the Cummer Museum:
   In a truly immersive experience, students will:

   • Explore the museum's stunning collection and select a character from a painting to bring to life.

   • Create fully costumed monologues, embellished by music of the time, bringing depth and authenticity to their characters.

   • Develop two-character scenes and collaborate on compelling group pieces, all rooted in the rich visual stories surrounding them.

3. Build a Visceral Connection:
   Let the artwork and breathtaking gardens of the Cummer Museum spark your creativity as you craft monologues, scenes, and original pieces that reflect your personal connection to the art and environment.

4. Collaborate and Create Magic Together:
   Experience the thrill of group dynamics as you blend your ideas with others to create a devised theatrical masterpiece.

TUITION: $180.00 for 9 week workshop.
